Terms & Conditions
This book regards and includes only the law of the particular state in the title of the book, and some, but not all, federal laws, as well as commentary for each. These books do not make a point to include extensive discussions of federal law or local laws and ordinances. While there may be some reference to federal law and local ordinances, please be aware that these are selected references, and the author of this book by no means intended the book to be all-inclusive.
These books do not concern the laws of states other than the state included in the title of the book. While there may be a reference to laws of another state, such reference would be only to compare or contrast a law in the state that is the subject of the book. Otherwise, this book strictly concerns the law of that state and mainly focuses on what may be found in the legislative code, and, if necessary, the administrative code. If you need information regarding the laws of another state or need more information on Federal Law, these books are not a resource to satisfy those needs.
These books are not designed to provide specific legal advice. Instead, it is designed to provide the reader with a general overview of the law regarding firearms, knives, and other weapons. If you need legal advice, please do not rely on this book to provide the legal advice for your situation. Seek out adequate legal counsel to address your needs, as they likely go beyond the text and commentary as provided in these books.
As a prudent gun enthusiast, you are responsible to observe and obey all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the handling, use, and ownership of firearms.
A great deal of time and consideration has gone into these texts to provide the reader with both the relevant laws pertaining to firearms, knife, and other weapons handling, use, and ownership under federal, state, and local laws, along with commentary designed to translate the laws from legalese to regular, everyday terms that most readers will find they can understand. But keep in mind, such efforts were strictly to provide this book as an educational text, and not as legal advice.
Despite the care and attention dedicated to this text, please realize that neither the author, the publisher, nor any distributor or retailer, provides any guarantees or warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied. The commentary of the relevant law is simply that – commentary. Such commentary should not be considered to be legal advice or a restatement of the law.
Please also understand that all the federal laws and state laws relevant to the use, handling, and the ownership of firearms, knives, and other weapons, are voluminous, and it would be a daunting task to provide each and every law, word for word, along with commentary. Therefore, it is important for you, the reader, to understand that these texts are simply a summary of such laws, that no representations are made by either the author, publisher, any distributor or retailer, that this book includes all laws and regulations. The author, publisher, distributors and retailers expressly disclaim any and all potential liability that could ever exist from the reader’s reliance upon information as provided in these books.
Furthermore, new bills are introduced every year to further restrict firearm use, ownership, and transfer. Many politicians and government figures have been quite frank regarding their interest to eliminate our rights under the Second Amendment. It is your responsibility as a citizen to pay attention to pending legislation and to observe and obey it if signed into law. It is also your responsibility, to yourself, your children, and future gun enthusiasts not yet born, to consider the right to bear arms when casting a ballot at the voting booth.
Additionally, laws addressed in these books, and in particular, the firearm laws, are subject to change at any moment, and by the time you read this book, changes have likely occurred. These books are considered by teh author to be "permanent works in progress," and while every effort was made in researching each and every statute and applicable case to provide an interpretation of the law, the potential that something was overlooked always exists, that a different interpretation always exists, or that something has changed always exists. Readers that question a particular interpretation of the law are encouraged to consult an attorney to answer their questions, compare the interpretation to other books on the subject, and to contact the author of this book to discuss. Mr. Bergin is interested in everyone’s opinion, interpretation, or experience regarding laws contained in these books.
Also included in these books is a fairly thorough discussion on basic firearm safety consideration and firearm competency. However, it is important to understand that, despite the detailed discussion regarding firearms safety and the basic use of a firearm, these books are not training or safety manuals , nor are these books an adequate substitute for such. These books are likely not complete as firearm safety is concerned. Basic firearm safety considerations are included in these texts because the unfortunate reality is that for many individuals, safety is often overlooked. Will these books get through to such individuals? Perhaps not. But such considerations are here for them should they care to read it.
The author strongly suggests anyone who intends to purchase, own, use, or handle a firearm to seek out training from a professional in his or her local area prior to doing so. There is no reason at all that a firearm should ever be in the hands of someone who does not know even the most basic firearm safety considerations, such as to always treat the firearm as if it were loaded, knowing to keep the finger off the trigger, pointing the firearm in a safe direction, even if unloaded, and knowing how to safely check to see if a firearm is loaded and, if necessary, safely unload a firearm.
Finally, the author and publisher, or any reseller, retailer, or distributor assume no liability for any damages or negligence that may occur through the reader’s use of firearms, knives, or other weapons, or any information included in these books. Regarding firearms, they should generally be handled only at a designated firing range under carefully controlled conditions. Readers of this text fully accept the responsibility for any and all accidents, damages and injuries that might occur from the handling and use of firearms or knives.
Thank you for your interest in these books. A great deal of time has gone into researching the material, sorting through and analyzing the law, and preparing it in a format that the reader can enjoy and understand. Hopefully it will answer all of your questions.
